Enjoy an enchanting walking tour of Florence with one of our friendly Licenced Guides. By walking through the streets and “piazzas” of the city centre, you will have the chance to trace the history of the city, taking a close look at the legacy of the Renaissance thanks to the numerous important monuments that line the tour route.
First, the tour will bring you to the imposing Palazzo Strozzi and its perfectly preserved courtyard, and then we will unveil one of Florence’s hidden treasures at Palazzo Davanzati, a perfect example of Medieval Palace. Have a look at the lovely Porcellino (little pig) Market, and then we will proceed to the oldest bridge in town, Ponte Vecchio, dating back to the 1300’s.
As you enjoy the beautiful vistas over the hills that surround that city, our guide will give a detailed description of the history of both the bridge and the Vasari Corridor, whose construction dramatically changed the typical “botteghe” (shops) located on the bridge.
After the magic atmosphere of Ponte Vecchio, our guided walking tour will lead to Piazza della Signoria, the heart of the city’s political power throughout the centuries, with the Uffizi Gallery on one side, whose premises once housed the Great Duke’s Offices, and Palazzo Vecchio, the traditional seat of the Florentine Government.
After admiring the medieval tower-houses in a pleasant diversion through the oldest part of town, you will arrive at Piazza Duomo to feast your eyes on the magnificent Cathedral of Florence, with its perfectly preserved marble engravings, while you will witness an architecture miracle looking at the Brunelleschi ‘s Dome, the symbol of the Florentine Renaissance movement, as our guide will explain you its daring design and the history beyond its challenging realisation.
Our tour stops right by the Baptistry, to admire the beautiful Porta del Paradiso (Heaven ‘s Door) and one more brilliant example of medieval architecture, Giotto’s bell tower.
